Bito: AI developer platform
Since April 2022, Redbrix has been the embedded UI/UX design partner of Bito, an AI developer platform that works inside IDEs and CLIs and on GitHub and GitLab for code generation, review, explanation and debugging.
Key facts
- Client: Bito (bito.ai), developer tools, AI and productivity SaaS.
- Scope: product architecture, UI and UX design, interactions, and a design system built from scratch.
- Phases: a collaborative dev tool (2022), AI-driven development (launched December 2022), the AI Code Review Agent (2024), then the web platform, AI Architect, integrations and analytics.
- In his October 2026 Clutch review, Bito’s CEO reports growth during the partnership to 150,000+ monthly active developers and 30M+ AI requests, alongside $8.7M raised in 2023 and 2024. Amar Goel, Co-founder & CEO of Bito — Clutch review, October 14, 2026.
- Bito’s work with Claude is the subject of an Anthropic customer story.
Context
When Redbrix joined, Bito’s early UI came from a legacy internal system. Redbrix was brought in at a formative stage, worked with the founders to turn concepts into testable prototypes, and built the design system and interaction logic that later features grew on. Design decisions at each stage were grounded in direct conversations with developers.
Scope
- In-IDE collaboration (2022): inline questions, line-level discussion threads, a discussion feed, code review with line annotations, and Code Tour with onboarding steps
- AI chat (2022): prompt suggestions, a shortcuts menu for explain, comment, performance, security and test generation, custom templates, and an accept-and-apply flow with a diff view
- AI Code Review Agent (2024): a repository dashboard, a review interface in the IDE extension with issues sorted by severity and side-by-side diffs, and a feedback loop on pull request comments in GitHub and GitLab
- Web platform: review agent settings per repository, the Git connection flow, custom guidelines upload, learned rules, integrations with GitLab, Jira, Linear and Confluence, and a custom MCP configuration interface
- AI Architect: conversational codebase questions and feature planning, with inline source citations
- Analytics: code review analytics and AI Architect analytics
- Developers judge AI tools against the general-purpose assistants they already use, so every suggestion had to be easy to check and apply.
- On GitHub and GitLab there was no custom interface, so review feedback had to work inside pull request comments.
